On August 1, 2023, the establishment meeting of the Long-Term Energy Storage Technology Professional Committee of the Zhongguancun Energy Storage Industry Technology Alliance was successfully held in Xi'an, Shaanxi, announcing the official establishment of the Long Term Energy Storage Technology Professional Committee. The special committee focuses on long-term energy storage technology routes such as pumped storage, compressed air storage, gravity storage, heat storage, liquid flow batteries, sodium flow batteries, and hydrogen storage. Experts from core research institutions of long-term energy storage technology, such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Changsha University of Technology, South China University of Technology, Central South University, University of Science and Technology of China, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, as well as China Southern Power Grid, State Grid, SDIC, Huaneng, Huadian, CGN, Three Gorges, Beijing Energy, Huawei, China Storage Guoneng, Beijing General Energy, Dalian Rongke, Tianying Entrepreneurs in the field of long-term energy storage, including Jiangsu Heng'an, attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Liu Wei, Secretary General of the Zhongguancun Energy Storage Industry Technology Alliance.
At the meeting, Chen Haisheng, Chairman of the Zhongguancun Energy Storage Industry Technology Alliance, reported on the preparatory work of the special committee and announced the list of members for the first committee. The meeting clarified that the Long Term Energy Storage Technology Professional Committee aims to gather the technical advantages of the field of long-term energy storage and combine the advantageous resources of the resource side to provide support for the large-scale application of long-term energy storage for power users, power grids, governments, etc., promote the large-scale application of long-term energy storage technology, support the decarbonization transformation of electricity, and assist in the global zero carbon process.
The expert committee is the core body of the special committee, composed of a chairman, vice chairmen, and members. The Special Committee is affiliated with the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the secretariat is set up in the Nanjing Institute of Future Energy Systems of China Sciences. At the meeting, the members voted to elect the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the first committee. Chen Haisheng was elected as the Chairman, and Chen Man, President of Energy Storage Research Institute of China Southern Power Grid Peak shaving and Frequency Modulation Power Generation Co., Ltd., Li Lianrong, Chairman of State Power Investment Group Hydrogen Energy Technology Development Co., Ltd., Li Xianfeng, Deputy Director of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Wang Zhifeng, Researcher of Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, were elected as the Vice Chairman. Upon nomination by Chairman Chen Haisheng, Zhang Hualiang, Vice President of Zhongke Nanjing Future Energy System Research Institute, was appointed as Secretary General, and Yue Fen, Deputy Secretary General of Zhongguancun Energy Storage Industry Technology Alliance, was appointed as Deputy Secretary General.
