ACEN Corporation, an energy business platform under Ayala Group, is aggressively expanding its business and aims to achieve its 5GW renewable energy installation target by 2025.
ACEN has achieved a leapfrog growth in renewable energy assets from 0 to 1000 megawatts (MW) within 5 years. The company stated in its annual report that it is simultaneously constructing several projects this year. Therefore, we are confident in achieving the installation target of 5 gigawatts by the end of 2025. ACEN's renewable energy assets have currently reached 4.2GW.
In addition to developing traditional renewable energy projects that include onshore photovoltaics and onshore wind power, ACEN will also research emerging technologies such as offshore wind power and floating wind power projects to expand their installed capacity.
The company has obtained a franchise project in the Laguna de Bay area of the Philippines and will install a floating photovoltaic project.
In the future, ACEN will further achieve a cumulative renewable energy installed capacity of 20 gigawatts by 2030, with a renewable energy installed capacity of 5 gigawatts.
In addition, the company partially put into operation the Pagudpud wind power project in North Ilocos Province, Philippines last week, with an installed capacity of 160 megawatts. Currently, 80 megawatts of capacity have been put into COD.
Acen President Eric Francia previously stated that the company's goal is to increase the operational capacity of the wind farm from 80 MW to 135 MW and put the second phase project into operation early next year.
The 160 MW operation plan for the entire project is scheduled for the end of December 2025, with the aim of being put into operation under the Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP) of the Department of Energy of the Philippines (DOE).
At the same time, the company's fourth wind power project, the 70 megawatt Capa wind power project, is also under construction in the North Ilocos Norte province. ACEN's goal is to put most wind turbines into operation within the next 12 months. The first phase of the project will be put into operation within the next 12 months and will be fully operational by 2025.
So far, ACEN alone holds a 426MW wind power project in the Philippines, with 266MW in operation and the remaining 150 MW under construction. About 90% of the company's wind power projects are located in the Ilocos Norte Province in the northern part of Luzon Island.
