From April 27th to 29th, the 2021 Petrochemical Industry Development Conference and the Third Member Conference and Forum of the Oil and Gas Special Committee were held in Qinzhou, Guangxi. The conference is themed "China's petroleum and chemical industry facing the 14th Five Year Plan", with a focus on the path and direction of high-quality development of the petrochemical industry under the new situation of the 14th Five Year Plan. It is an important measure to deepen the supply side structural reform and promote the high-quality development of China's petroleum and chemical industry.
The attending leaders and experts conducted in-depth analysis of the new situations, problems, and patterns faced by the current petroleum and chemical industry. The conference also released and interpreted the "14th Five Year Plan" for the development of the petroleum and chemical industry, as well as special plans for scientific and technological innovation, green development, new chemical materials, modern coal chemical industry, and park development.
Sun Weishan, Vice President of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, believes that during the 13th Five Year Plan period, the development of the petrochemical industry has achieved great success. However, the structural contradiction of "low-end surplus and high-end shortage" remains the main contradiction in the petrochemical industry. Environmental accidents occur from time to time, and the phenomenon of "color change in discussions" still exists. The task of green development is arduous.
"The strategic transformation of the energy industry is coming with a roar," said Li Shousheng, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. He said that with the rapid breakthrough of new energy technology, traditional energy industries mainly engaged in oil, coal, and other businesses will face sharp challenges of a significant decrease in demand.
