The 18th China Academic Conference for Bamboo Industry opened in Hangzhou

On October 30, 2023, the 18th China Academic Conference for Bamboo Industry officially opened at Zhejiang A&F University. The Conference was held by the China Forestry Society and Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University, and organized by the Bamboo Branch of the China Forestry Society, the Bamboo Research Institute of Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University, the Subtropical Forestry Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Forestry Sciences, the Bamboo Industry Association of Zhejiang Province, and the State Key Laboratory of Subtropical Forest Cultivation. Zhonglin Golden Bamboo, as an invited party, participated in this conference to discuss bamboo’s prospects in food, medicine and daily use with other enterprises, and to brainstorm and provide suggestions for the high-quality development of the bamboo industry.
As the saying goes, China leads the world in bamboo development, while Zhejiang takes the lead in China. Zhejiang A&F University has the earliest-established bamboo research institute and a strong team of bamboo research experts in China, who hold the key technologies for the bamboo industry. As to the Bamboo Research Institute of Zhejiang A&F University, it is a high-level innovation platform to reach rural revitalization and carbon neutrality, and most importantly, providing assistance to upgrade the bamboo industry with technologies. The research institute focuses on conducting basic research and technological breakthroughs in the fields of intelligent manufacturing of bamboo based new materials and efficient comprehensive utilization of bamboo waste, high-value utilization of bamboo shoots, innovation and precise cultivation of bamboo germplasm, and carbon stabilization and sink enhancement of bamboo forests. It also strengthens interdisciplinary research, integration of primary, secondary, and tertiary industries, and transformation and application of scientific research results.
In the context of such strong technological support and academic atmosphere, this conference was grandly opened at Zhejiang A&F University. At the opening ceremony, Lan Xiaoguang, the Chairman of the Bamboo Branch of the China Forestry Society, delivered an opening speech, Shen Xi, the President of Zhejiang A&F University, delivered a welcoming speech, and Hu Xia, the Director of the Zhejiang Forestry Bureau, and Zhao Shucong, the Chairman of the China Forestry Society, delivered speeches respectively, calling on colleagues in the bamboo industry to seize opportunities and forge ahead, making contributions to the national development strategies of rural revitalization and common prosperity.
Subsequently, Xie Jinzhong, Secretary General of the Bamboo Branch of the Chinese Forestry Society, delivered a report on the work of the 6th Council and introduced the candidates for the council and their approval. The attending representatives voted and elected members of the 7th Board of Directors of the Bamboo Branch of the Chinese Forestry Society. Lan Xiaoguang, Chairman of the 7th Board of Directors of the Bamboo Branch of the Chinese Forestry Society, delivered a speech on behalf of the new members of the board, and stated that he will continue to strengthen his own construction, enhance the capacity of the board, and solidly carry out all the work of the branch.
During this academic conference, a series of activities will also be held, including the "China Bamboo Industry Youth Academic Forum", the "Small and Medium Diameter Bamboo Shoot Industry Development Forum", and the "130-Year Academic Salon for Bamboo Science". The convening of this meeting will further stimulate the innovative spirit of bamboo industry technology workers, promote talent cultivation in the bamboo industry, and make greater contributions to consolidating the achievements of poverty alleviation and promoting rural revitalization.
